Fly into this special exhibition at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science

Crawl your way into the world of super critters in Bugs, an interactive and immersive special exhibition now open at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami. Highlighting the biology of bugs, and how their abilities inspire human technologies, Bugs explores the science of these amazing tiny animals.

Perfect for curious kids and adults alike, this cinematic exhibition features ultra-detailed, larger-than-life models, videos, hands-on activities, scientific specimens, and immersive experiences that enable you to see the world from a bug’s perspective, delight in their bizarre beauty, and reflect on what we can learn from their brilliant behaviors.

From navigating an orchid mantis’s secret garden to discovering how beetles inspire new technologies, Bugs is packed with fascinating insights about these tiny creatures and their big impact on our lives. Guests of all ages will love the immersive theaters, which invite you to explore bugs in ways that spark curiosity and awe.

The exhibition was created by the internationally renowned Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and Weta Workshop Limited, whose outside-the-box creative designs helped bring the Lord of the Rings to life on the silver screen.

A special highlight is the museum’s own insect collection in a special display, curated with the help of local Broward College students. It’s a unique opportunity to discover the diversity of native bugs and learn about the impact non-native bugs have on our environment.

Bugs is both scientifically engaging and visually stunning. Every detail has been crafted to make learning fun and accessible. Whether your family loves science, nature, or simply wants to explore something new, Bugs offers a larger-than-life experience that’s as entertaining as it is educational.

Admission to Bugs is included with general museum admission, so you can also explore Frost Science’s family-friendly favorites like the three-level aquarium, the Frost Planetarium and other exciting science exhibitions on the day of your visit.

Bugs is on view through Sunday, April 20, 2025, inside the Hsiao Family Special Exhibition Gallery on the first floor of the museum.
