Renowned master puppeteer Hilarion Camargo brings the ancient art of puppetry to the historic gardens with three spellbinding shows on Jan. 7, Mar. 25 & Apr. 8, 2023

Pinecrest Gardens presents The Puppets Magical Show, a music and puppet animation show for the entire family. Directed by renowned actor, director and master puppeteer, Hilarion Camargo, the three-act musical, comedy and tale takes place in the Banyan Bowl at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, March 25 and April 8, 2023.

During each matinee, The Puppets Magical Show introduces guests to different genres of puppeteering and an eclectic cast of characters. The three shows consist of a Rock ‘n’ Roll musical starring a rock & roll singer fashioned after Little Richard; a mime-like comedy featuring a mime, who is a harvester of love and tenderness; and the Tale of the Enchanted Horse, extracted from the world of the 1001 nights fairytale. Performed by the puppets, the enchanted horse story is about the travel adventures of a young Persian prince transported by a magical ebony horse and the hazards of fate to an unknown kingdom, where he meets his true love.

“We can’t wait to witness the look of joy and amazement on the faces of everyone who watches the whimsical productions of The Puppets Magical Garden Show,” said Cristina Blanco, Pinecrest Gardens’ new director. “Hilarion is a true master of puppetry and fantasy. Each show is vastly different and entertaining. You’ll want to bring the whole family to enjoy this magical experience!”

The ancient art of puppetry has traveled on a journey through time, cultures and civilizations.  This art form first existed around 4000 years ago, and according to some historians, puppets were used in the theatre even before actors started performing on stage. Carmargo, who studied art and puppetry in his native country of Bolivia and in Moscow, Russia, has made it his lifelong commitment to preserve this wonderful instrument of artistic expression so that present and future generations can delight in it for years to come.

The Puppets Magical Show is designed for kids of all ages and adults and opens the doors to a wonderful world where fantasy becomes reality. Tickets for each show cost $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $10 for children (ages 2-10 years old). Tickets include general admission to the puppet show and access to Pinecrest Gardens where visitors can explore a new inclusive, ADA-accessible playground, mini-zoo, Sensory Learning Garden and Inspiration Center.
