Kiddos Magazine had the pleasure of interviewing the executive team at A1A Behavioral Health, including Rolando Medina, Rey Breto, and Mailyn Fernandez. During this engaging conversation, we gained valuable insights into the organization’s mission, core services, and commitment to supporting families through personalized behavioral health care.
What is ABA therapy? How does it support children’s development?
Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Therapy is a scientifically validated approach grounded in principles of learning & behavior. ABA focuses on understanding how behavior functions in real-life situations and how the environment plays a factor in behavior. The primary goal is to increase functional behaviors and decrease harmful, disruptive behaviors which interfere with learning, communication, and independence.

Furthermore, we operate a state-of-the-art 7000 sq ft treatment center located in Doral. This center allows us to provide early intervention, social skills programs, and school readiness training.
What types of professionals are part of your team?
We pride ourselves of working alongside a highly skilled and compassionate team. Our services, led by the Director of Clinical Affairs & Director of A1A Center work collaboratively with a dynamic support team. Direct care providers, Analysts, and RBTs all bring extensive training and experience to the children we serve. Supporting them is a team of Case Managers, Quality Assurance, Intake Coordinators, Insurance Experts, all of whom ensure we maintain industry compliance and quality service delivery.
How do you involve parents in the therapy process?
Family involvement is essential to ABA Therapy’s success. We prioritize regular, structured parent training sessions. This allows caregivers to be equipped with tools and strategies needed to support their child’s on-going progress. These sessions create opportunities for caregivers, RBTs and Analysts to openly communicate, thus allowing to review & evaluate behavior strategies, track & reinforce progress, collaborate & adjust on treatment plans as needed. This partnership empowers families and solidifies therapeutic gains achieved through our individualized care model.
