After-school program

Kiddos Issue 5 Artbox

The newest addition arriving to the Mayfair in Coconut Grove is an after-school program that should be on every parent´s agenda. Art Box is a collaborative project led by Maria Calvo and Sofia del Rivero, two college graduates who share one passion: introducing kids to a world of art. The inspiration behind this program stems from today´s younger generation and their undeniable attachment to technology.

Art Box is meant to be a home for the revival of creativity in kids-a place where they can develop that same enthusiasm and appreciation but for artistic, hands-on activities. This summer, from June 9th to August 15th, Art Box will be operating as a summer camp full of fun activities, games, movies, and creative workshops for burgeoning little artists. The diverse workshops range from recreating Dali´s melting clocks to decorating Chinese lanterns to designing personalized book and CD covers. Art Box encourages kids to not limit their definition of art, but to realize that it can take form as many different mediums and expressions and be found in every day life.
