Jonathan Welsh is head of the Marketing and Development Department at Care Resource, a community medical care provider in South Florida. Dr. Curtis Barnes, DMD, is the Dental Director and has practiced dentistry in South Florida for 19 years.
The new school year is just around the corner! This means shopping for school supplies, preparing your child’s lunches, parent-teacher conferences and, of course, scheduling back-to-school doctor visits for your child. In recognition of this special time, our Kiddos Kid Reporter interviewed two important members of Care Resource: Jonathan Welsh, the head of Marketing and Development Manager and Dr. Curtis Barnes, DMD, Dental Director. Care Resource has been serving the South Florida community for over 30 years and provides a variety of health services for pediatric, adolescent, and adult care.
Mr. Welsh and Dr. Barnes talked about important topics with our Kiddos Kid Reporter. He also learned more about Care Resource’s commitment to the well-being of children and families.
The Kiddos Kid Reporter: Can you tell me a little bit more about Care Resource and its mission?
Jonathan: Care Resource goes by what we call the 3 C’s: we are a Health Care Center that is committed, competent, and compassionate. We like to put that experience into everything that we do. It’s in the details too; it’s about a place we can go and be on a road map to better health. Our services include primary care, dental care, case management, wellness screenings, and so much more. We also provide quality kid care. Our pediatrician and our staff here are equipped to meet all the needs for children whether it is for hearing, vision, dental, or
immunizations.

The Kiddos Kid Reporter: What’s the part you love and enjoy the most about your job?
Jonathan: I love speaking to the rich diversity of the community that enters our offices daily and seeing the smiles on their faces when they exit. Indeed, he who has health, has hope; and he who has hope, has everything. Seeing the hope we give to families and children first-hand after delivering quality care is what makes the Care Resource experience so great.
The Kiddos Kid Reporter: Now we are here with Dr. Curtis Barnes, Dental Director at Care Resource. School starts soon! How can parents and kids get ready for a healthy school year?
Dr. Barnes: I think the summer is a time to rest, go on vacation and eat properly so that you’re all ready to start a new school year with lots of energy and good health.
The Kiddos Kid Reporter: How can kids avoid getting cavities?
Dr. Barnes: The best way you can avoid getting cavities is by
brushing and flossing. Especially when you’re young it’s important that you brush and take the
adequate amount of time to cover all the surfaces of the teeth. Most children brush very quickly, but their parents should supervise so that they know that they’re doing it properly. Once you get a little bit older then it’s very important to floss because most of the decay at that time is between the teeth.
The Kiddos Kid Reporter: What’s the part that you love most about your job?
Dr. Barnes: Seeing the patients and making them smile – that’s what I love the most.
